Pillars of Creation by JWST
This photo is simply amazing.
While sitting next to my little sleeping son I have been reading some astro-news and browsing the latest photographs taken by the James Webb Space Telescope.
I came to this one and I couldn’t stop looking at it. This photo is simply amazing. I must share this with you here as well, although you probably know this photo also from other resources. I just wanted to share also my opinion and feelings when looking at this magic piece of the universe.
The “Pillars of Creation” is located in the Orion Nebula and is about 7000 light-years away from us. So, although this photo was taken this week, in reality, it no longer looks like this – it is actually a looking into the past – to the time 7000 years ago, because this light traveled to us for 7000 years.
They are named “Pillars of Creation” because the gas and dust are in the process of creating new stars, while also being eroded by the light from nearby stars that have recently formed.
So we can also call it a “place where new stars are being born”. This is awesome.
